Boarding Your Dog with Us
Is your dog social and well behaved? Ask about our exclusive canine camp where your dog can enjoy the fun daily activities! Before we can accept your dog, we must first conduct a walk-through here at the school for $50 fee which will later be credited back during your dog's stay. Sunday Pickup/Drop Off Fee is $25. This allows your dog to explore our environment while we get a better understanding of his/her character. Plan to schedule this several weeks before you travel.
What You Can Expect From Us
Your pup will live in the house. Free pick-up and delivery available at Dotsero. They can play with others throughout the day and rest inside when ready. Hiking open space and swimming in the Colorado River are only some of the activities we provide the dogs in our care for no extra charge. After a 5 night stay your pooch gets a departure bath. All dogs get cleaned up prior to going home regardless of length of stay. Your dog will get appropriate mental stimulation and physical exercise by knowledgeable staff. Special diets, supplements and treats are welcome. Special health and temperament needs can be accommodated. All dogs are asked to be well behaved encouraging good manners when they go back home. The personalized and remote nature of the Canine Country School keeps your dogs healthier than in many other populations of dogs that are kenneled. In twenty-five years of boarding, kennel cough has come through twice and both times the School paid all associated vet bills clients incurred as a result.

Radiant heated floors keep your pooch comfortable, while periodic dips in the river keep him having fun. This is the only board and train school where your dog is loved and cared for as you would, complete with holiday parties and regular hikes and excursions. Boarding Your Cat with Us
Cats are very independent by nature, but we know they need just as much love as dogs. Our cat boarding accommodations are clean and comfortable, and all our feline guests enjoy regular and loving attention from our caring, experienced and certified staff. The separate room was built specifically for cats and offers the highest standards of hygiene and security.
To provide them a safe and relaxing experience, our feline boarding guests receive their own special Kitty Condos in a dog-free section of the property.
We take great pride in our ability to care for your cat. Your cat's needs are our top priority and they will receive a lot of individual attention, regular kitty box cleaning, a fountain of fresh water at all times and up to four meals daily (as per your request). All of our staff are cat lovers and cat owners (owned by cats may be the better term) and know just how to pamper your kitty while Mom and Dad are away. Please bring a favorite toy, towel, T-shirt or whatever might make your cat feel more at home. We love all cats and welcome special needs guests. We inquire on the Boarding Agreement about any medications that your cat may be taking. We will administer medications at no additional charge.
Fun and Play
Don't worry about your cats being in their condos all day. They will have ample opportunity to exercise or lounge around in our cattery play area throughout the day. We have a large, brightly lit playroom furnished with catwalks, toys and cat furniture for their entertainment. Most condos are built with an emphasis on vertical space in the form of high perches. Cats are also provided with views out windows, a fish aquarium and safe access to the outside, as well as plenty of human interaction. We value exercise and playtime for all our cat boarding guests and offer many activities and playtime options. The amount of time each cat spends in the playroom is dependent upon each cat's interest and comfort.
Cats enjoy the "protected" feeling they get from being placed in a condo unit while being boarded. Your cat will probably want to sit in the corner of his unit and stare, until he feels comfortable in the new environment. Human contact does not necessarily accelerate this period of acclimatizing. It has to take place at the cat's own speed. A common reaction of cat owners to the idea of boarding is "kitty loves to run around." Perhaps he does at home, but while he is in unfamiliar surroundings, his condo gives him a feeling of safety. Cats exercise isometrically. This means that when a cat has enough room to stretch, he can exercise every muscle in his body. When your cat is in strange surroundings, around strange cats, he will prefer safety to space.
Vaccination Requirements
For the health and safety of each of our guests, we require up-to-date vaccinations for Feline Distemper, Panleukopemia, Rinotracheitis, and Calicivirus combination vaccine or titter's testing showing adequate protection. Also proof of vaccination against Feline Rabies is required.
Food and Nutrition
We understand the importance of a well-balanced diet, that's why we feed your kitty their normal diet, which you provide. A change of diet can cause problems in even the healthiest of cats. Parents can bring food from home as kibble, canned, raw or homemade. If your pet has any dietary restrictions, sensitivities or allergies, please notify us while making your reservation or at check in. We offer a variety of healthy complimentary treats throughout the day.
Personal Belongings
We do everything possible to make your best friend's stay as comfortable as possible. You are welcome to bring toys and non-perishable treats for your pet's stay. We ask for your cooperation in limiting the amount of personal belongings to one to two favorite toys, which we will label upon arrival.
Once your cat has settled in and you've said goodbye, rest assured that you have left them in good hands. We make a point to spend a little extra time with new arrivals to help them feel safe in their surroundings. During its stay, we try our best to keep your cat on its regular schedule. When you fill in the Boarding Agreement, you tell us about your cats feeding schedule - once, twice, three times a day or free feeding - wet or dry food. Does your cat prefer wood shavings or sand in their box?
It's been our experience that this style of cat boarding is well tolerated by even the most shy and timid of cats. We do our best to ensure that each and every boarding experience is a positive one for both pet and owner.
Even with the most gregarious cat, boarding can be stressful. Take time to prepare your feline for time away from home by practicing the process of entering and exiting its travel carrier. A cat appeasing pheromone found in Feliway can be very helpful to help kitties settle in and travel more successfully.
Once your beloved feline returns to their castle, prepare for days - and possibly weeks - of bribery to get back on their good side.
